Photoshoot with a dating photographer
Our process
We conduct photo shoots in a way that sets us apart from traditional portrait photographers. Our process is carefully designed to maximize your chances on dating apps and websites.
1. Preparations
Before the photoshoot, we invite our clients to go shopping with our personal shopper . This is an optional offer that can help you look your best, both in the photos and on future dates.
We also offer detailed advice to our clients on hair styling, skincare, and mental preparation to help you get the most out of your photoshoot. See our preparation guide for more information.
2. Choice of location
As a customer, you can ask us in advance to have the photoshoot at a special location you have in mind. For example, we have done photoshoots
At a customer's home
On a customer's farm
On a customer's boat
On the mountaintop
In the forest
But most shoots usually take place somewhere in the city, and most clients let us choose a location for them. As photographers, we are constantly choosing new places to photograph our clients so that everyone gets unique images.
We use Google Streetview to find good locations that might be suitable. We also usually try to avoid places where there are a lot of people, so that the photo shoot is discreet. However, if you prefer a more lively atmosphere, we are happy to adapt to your wishes.
3. The actual photoshoot
During the photoshoot, we visit several carefully selected locations and usually take between 300 and 700 photos. In between these locations, we will find private areas where you can change outfits. Using multiple outfits creates the illusion that the photos were taken on different days, which provides variety and a more complete dating profile. You bring your own clothes and props that you want to use. In the next section, you will find information about how many outfits you should bring.
Our goal is to make the photos appear natural, as if they weren't all taken during a professional photo shoot. We use movement and props to give the photos an authentic feel, which increases their credibility on a dating profile. We also often avoid excessive background blurring, so that most photos don't look like they were taken with professional equipment. The goal is a profile that is both attractive and genuine.
4. How do I change clothes?
In areas with few people, we find private and discreet places where you can change your outfit unnoticed, for example between some garages, behind trees, or shelter walls. Some also choose to change in the car if they arrive by car. If the shoot takes place at your home or near where you live, you can of course change at home.
In areas with more people, we can use public buildings, such as a library, to borrow a bathroom. Alternatively, we can visit a shopping mall, a food court, or a cafe with changing facilities. We often take some photos at a cafe, so you can easily change in the bathroom there.
If you are shy about changing clothes, let us know in advance and we will plan the shoot with extra privacy in mind. It's also possible to change only the upper body and keep the same pants in all photos. We can use Photoshop to change the color of the pants to create more variety in the photos, if you wish.
Number of outfits
The number of outfits you should bring depends on which package you have chosen. Here is our recommendation based on the timeframe for each shoot:
Pronto (40 min): 2-4 outfits
Premium (1.5 hours): 5-7 outfits
Luxe (2 hours): 7+ outfits
We always recommend bringing a little more than you think you need. The more variety we get in the images, the better it is for creating a complete profile.
5. What if the weather is bad?
When you book a shoot with us, we'll set a date based on the latest weather forecast and your availability. Should the weather conditions deteriorate on the day we have scheduled the shoot, you can change to a new date for free. We prefer to shoot when there is plenty of sunshine or a light cloud cover, but we've also had success with other weather conditions.
Some clients wonder if it's important to take the photos during the 'golden hour' in the evening or morning to get the warm tones. This is less of a concern for us, as we have techniques to capture perfect photos in normal daylight. However, we prefer to avoid days with heavy and dark cloud cover, as such conditions often give a more dramatic look. Our goal is to emphasize a pleasant and warm atmosphere in the photos, even when they are taken in winter.
6. Can I bring a friend or assistant?
You are welcome to bring a friend or assistant free of charge, and there is no need to inform us in advance. Whether you need assistance, for example if you are in a wheelchair, or would like a “caddy” to carry your clothes and provide moral support, you can easily bring a helping hand.
Do you have specific needs? Feel free to ask us how we can customize the photoshoot for you. We do our utmost to ensure that this experience is accessible to everyone, regardless of life situation.
